How to Determine If It’s a Cold or Allergies
Allergies and colds are two things that people suffer with the most. I will tell you how I determine what is what. However, I must say that I am not a certified doctor. If you’re having serious problems contact your doctor. Just don’t take my word for it.
Instructions (Steps):
You can tell what you have when you blow your nose and see your mucus.
If you have a CLEAR runny nose, sneezing, and your eyes and nose itch, plus tearing up you have the symptoms of allergic rhinitis or hayfever. I have also noticed that you have more nose bleeding if you have hayfever. You will not have green in your mucus. It will be totally clear.
There are a lot of over the counter drugs you can take for this. The best thing is to contact your doctor and see what your doctor recommends. If you have other health problems it’s important to make sure that your meds won’t clash.
If you have a cold you will blow out GREEN mucus. Your throat will burn, you’ll have a stuffy nose, and a cough. The type of cough you have can vary. It is very important to talk with your doctor and get treatment if you have a cold. It can easily turn into a second degree infection sometimes three.
If you are having sinus problems you will have a YELLOW mucus. It can be yellowish/greenish. It can sometimes be green after a few days but usually will stay yellow/green. If it is straight green it’s a cold but if it’s a mix it’s sinus. You can have blocked ears, teeth pain, pain underneath your eyes, upper forhead and your cheeks. Why does it have yellow in it? It has yellow in it because of the pollen that is in the air.
There are a lot of different levels with allergies, colds, and sinus problems. I have learned there are over 200 kinds of colds. Just because one person is getting better doesn’t mean you need to take what they are taking. That’s why it’s very important to write down all of your problems and contact the doctor. More so if your child is sick with these problems. Don’t wait until the last minute because it can get worse.
If you’re sick make sure to drink a lot, and get plenty of rest. Take some time off work with the doctor’s permission. If you’re running a high fever and throwing up contact your doctor right away. If your temp is over 102 and the doctor’s are closed I suggest going to the hospital.
Do a lot of research online and see if you can get the meds cheaper. Sometimes you can get them cheaper instead of buying them over the counter. Make sure the shipping price is correct. When taking meds always research the latest warnings and recalls.
If you’re feeling bad and people around you act like they don’t care please explain to them how you’re feeling. You don’t have to go into great details but just letting them know you aren’t feeling good could really help the situation.
If you are sick while reading this I hope that u feel better soon.
Tips & Warnings:
- Make sure to still eat when you’re sick even if it’s only soup.
- Please contact your doctor before taking meds or if you’re having problems with any of the above.
