At times, when you are partying there will be instances to have beer spilled over your shirt. In fact, it’s quite normal to end up spilling some beer on your clothes and even on the carpet. Fortunately, there are easy ways to get rid of beer stains. Read on to get some useful tips for removing these after-party stains.
Getting rid of fresh beer stains:
- Grab an absorbent cloth or paper towel to squeeze out extra liquid off of the affected surface. Blotting is more preferred than wiping as it prevents the spread of stain which will otherwise leave an uglier mess.
- If you need an extra hand to remove the stain, you can use a laundry detergent. Simply mix the detergent with water and swish the solution to create foam. Gently dab on the stain and you will be surprised at how the solution lightens up the stained area. For better results, let the solution stand for about 5 minutes before dabbing the cloth with dry, clean towels. For more stubborn stains, you can use a stronger detergent-water solution.
- If the fabric is not too delicate, you can also try to bleach the stain. Vinegar is always a good remedy for stains, including beer stains. It contains acetic acid that acts like natural bleach. So, if you do not have a household chlorine or hydrogen peroxide, vinegar is a good choice. Mix a solution that contains vinegar and water and then dab it to the affected area of the fabric. The goal is to remove the stain and odor out of the fabric, but do not use vinegar on fabrics containing triacetate. For chlorine bleach, you need to know that it can bleach out colors and it can damage delicate fabrics as well. So make sure that the fabric is not sensitive to chlorine before application. On the other hand, hydrogen peroxide acts gentle to all kinds of fabrics, hence safe to use.
- If both detergents and bleaching solutions fail, do not despair. You can try a combination of stain treatments. There are stain removers available on the market nowadays that can be sprayed directly on different kinds of stains.
Note: Fresh stains are easier to remove than those which have dried over a period of time.
