  2. Pour a generous amount of rubbing alcohol directly on the stained area.
  3. Brush the area with an old clean toothbrush until the paint begins to break apart from the fabric.
  4. Rinse the garment with warm water and immediately wash the garment on a regular wash cycle.

Method #2

Materials needed:

  • Hairspray
  • An old toothbrush
  • Washing machine

Instructions:

  1. Spray the stained garment with hairspray.
  2. Scrub the area using an old clean toothbrush.
  3. If you have successfully removed the stain, wash the garment on a regular wash cycle.

Method #3

Materials needed:

  • Paint thinner
  • Hot water
  • Plastic spoon
  • Paper towels/ sponge
  • Liquid detergent

Instructions (for oil-based paint):

  1. Scrape off the paint stain using a plastic spoon.
  2. Pour some paint thinner into a paper towel or a sponge and apply it on the stained area.
  3. When you have removed as much paint as you can, rub some liquid detergent on the area.
  4. Thoroughly wash and rinse the garment in hot water.

Method #4

Materials needed:

  • Warm water
  • Enzyme pre-soak stain remover
  • Mild detergent

Instructions (water-based paint):

  1. As soon as you notice the stain on your clothing, immediately take it off and rinse it with warm water.
  2. Apply the enzyme pre-soak stain remover together with a small amount of warm water.
  3. Rinse the garment with warm water and then hand wash it using a mild detergent.

Paint Stain Removal from Fiber

The following paint stain removal method works on specific fibers including Acetate, Burlap, Fiberglass, Rayon, Silk or Triacetate, Synthetic Carpet or Wool Carpet.

Materials needed:

  • Absorbent pad
  • Ammonia
  • Dry spotter
  • Dry cleaning solvent
  • Plastic knife/plastic spoon
  • Sponge

Instructions:

  1. Scrape off as much of the paint as you can, using a plastic knife or plastic spoon.
  2. Pour dry cleaning solvent on the sponge and wipe it on the area using gentle strokes from the center to the outside edges.
  3. Now, dab some dry spotter on the absorbent pad and apply it onto the paint stain. Let the pad absorb as much stain as it can. Replace the pad with a new one when it sops absorbing the stain anymore. Repeat this process until the stain has disappeared.

When removing stains from fiber, you can also use ammonia instead of dry spotter. However, you have to keep in mind that ammonia is not suitable for silk, wool or rayon as it will damage the fiber.

Getting Rid of Paint Stains on Carpets

Paints always have the tendency to manifest themselves on carpets. In fact, paint can adhere better to carpets than to walls. Fortunately, there is an effective way to undo paint stains from carpets. Read on.

Materials needed:

  • Dry towel
  • Liquid all-purpose detergent
  • Soapy water

Instructions:

  1. Apply the liquid all-purpose detergent starting from the underneath of the carpet and work toward the surface. Blot using a dry towel.
  2. Apply some soapy water on the surface, and blot it again. Repeat this process until the stain has disappeared.

Note: It is vital to get rid of the stains at the earliest possible time.

Undo Stains from Furniture and Other Household Surfaces

Materials needed:

  • Dry cloth
  • Mild detergent
  • Paint thinner
  • Paper towel
  • Warm water
  • Vinyl gloves

Instructions:

  1. Scrape off as much stain as possible from the surfaces. For wet stains, immediately blot it using paper towels to prevent drying. Dried stains are definitely more difficult to remove.
  2. Once you’ve loosened up the stain, get the clean dry cloth and apply a small amount of paint thinner on it. Rub the cloth into the area until it becomes stain-free.
  3. Pat the surface with a paper towel.

Note: Soap, mild detergents and paint thinner can make your hands harsh and itchy. Wearing a pair of gloves can protect and prevent your hands from rashes, redness and any other discomfort. But foremost, avoid spilling or tainting paints on surfaces so you don’t have to worry about paint stain removal anymore.
