How to Look for a Nanny Job
Looking for a nanny job can be very overwhelming. You want to make sure that you find the perfect job for you. How do you go about doing it? With these steps I’ve always found a nanny job, and I hope that you will also.
Instructions (Steps):
The very first thing you should do is write down what kind of family you would like to help. Write down the family you don’t want to help. Do you want to look after only one kid? Do you have any talents that they should know about? What about your education, and training. Think about all of these things before deciding on what family you should work for.
After you figure out what kind of family you should work for, Google nanny agencies online. There are several legit nanny agencies such as care.com that can help you find a family. If you don’t want to be connected with a agency do a search for nanny jobs in your area online. You’ll be surprised at what comes up.
Sometimes you don’t always have the net connection. Hand out fliers to people in your neighborhood. See if you can put some signs up on business doors. Always ask them first. Put down your qualifications, and what you’re looking for.
Think about starting a club with other people that might be looking for nanny jobs. You can google and find out the baby-sitters in your area. Let other people know about the club. Always meet in the same location, and accept calls during that time.
Call your local charity organizations, and see if there are any mothers needing help watching after their children. Even if there isn’t give your info to them. If you do help a family out connected to a local charity, you might think about cutting the cost some, and see if in exchange they can be used for a reference later.
If you want a summer job don’t wait until the last minute. Most parents start posting summer jobs around March, or a couple of months before hand.
When they call ,talk very clear. Tell them your qualifications, and have references ready. Talk about wages when they ask. Don’t start off right away talking about prices. Be very clear what hours you’d work for them, and let them know when you don’t want to work. If you do all of these steps, you’re sure to find a nanny job!
Tips & Warnings:
- Ask them if they have references as well. You want to make sure the family you’re sitting for isn’t wanted by the FBI. Check them out, and make sure they are safe. They should respect this, and if they act upset or funny about it, don’t take the job.
- Never give out your social security number, or other personal info like that to the ones that interview you. There is no need for them to know this info.
